The city of Princeton is located about 50 miles north of Minneapolis, only 30 miles east of St. Cloud, and at the confluence of the Rum River and its West branch bordering both Sherburne and Mille Lacs counties.  With almost 4,700 people calling this community their home, Princeton embodies a rich history while embracing growth and development. From a variety of shopping, dining, business and recreation, the city of Princeton has something for everyone.

Take a stroll downtown

You'll find a mix of history and today's conveniences. Visit the Mille Lacs Historical Society, the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce, browse through shops including clothing, shoes, bookstores and boutiques, or treat yourself to lunch out of the office and stop by the ice cream shop for a quick treat. During the summer months, you can enjoy fresh produce from the local farmer's market that runs every Saturday from May to October.

Local Events, Recreation & Entertainment

When it comes to recreational adventure, the Princeton community has a lot to offer residents and visitors alike. Enjoy afternoons in the parks along the Rum River where you can picnic, canoe or kayak, and even fish. Visitors can enjoy camping at Riverside Campground or enjoy any one of the numerous city parks through Princeton offering multiple baseball fields, dog parks, or walking trails. Families can also enjoy a day at Mark Park which features a Splash Pad; perfect for hot summer days.

If golfing is your game, you can enjoy 18 holes at Princeton Golf Course, or try the municipal disc golf course.  There are also many other non-city-owned recreational facilities in and around Princeton. Here's a shortlist:
